Pops Orchestra

Kim's arrangements for orchestra have been performed by the Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Boston Pops, Cleveland, Hollywood Bowl, Houston, Minnesota, National, Pacific, Philadelphia, Rochester, and St. Louis Symphony Orchestras, as well as many others.

In February 2003, he was the guest speaker at the American Symphony Orchestra League conference in New York City, where he talked about arranging for Pops orchestras.

Orchestral Collaborations

Kim has guest conducted the Atlanta Symphony, the Houston Symphony, and the Minnesota Orchestra in addition to hundreds of recording sessions with orchestras in Los Angeles, New York, Washington, DC, and London. Kim co-produced, arranged, and conducted the orchestra for Linda Eder's song Gold, which was featured in the opening ceremonies for the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Notable Arrangements

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra asked Kim to write arrangements for Earl Klugh, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Sister Hazel, Edwin McCain, Bebel Gilberto and Spyro Gyra. He arranged the city of Atlanta theme song penned by hip-hop producer Dallas Austin that featured the symphony and was recorded by Deutsche Grammophon.

Major Performance Arrangements

In 2009 Kim also arranged and recorded the Atlanta Braves Tomahawk Chop (based on Dvorak's New World Symphony) for the orchestra.

His work has also been a part of several Boston Pops 4th of July television specials: in 2002 with Linda Eder, in 2003 with LeAnn Rimes, and in 2017 with Little Big Town.

Boston Pops Collaborations

On New Year's Eve 2003, the Boston Pops played right of his arrangements featuring 15-year-old vocalist Kaitlin Lusk, an artist Kim continues to produce currently. That May, Kaitlyn returned to Symphony Hall for two sold-out concerts, headlining Kim's fresh, new arrangements of songs originally made famous by Judy Garland.

Orchestrations for Rising Stars

He arranged and orchestrated Handel's Messiah Rocks, a contemporary version of the holiday favorite featuring three amazing singers, Keith Lockhart, the Boston Pops, and a rocking band. The production has been shown on PBS and toured nationally.
